While still in the early development stage of Legends of the Traveler, we have a pretty good idea about how we want the setting of the game to be. So far we have an outline of what we want included, and over the next few months we will try to polish down the details we have so far.
The game Legends of the Traveler will take place in the mystical world of Reed. Reed is a world that has, against all odds, found peace between all races, religions and culture. Aside from small fights in the street and infrequent disagreements, on a grand scale the world of Reed is one without wars. We hope that through interactions with the player and NPC’s throughout the game, the player will begin to understand the various cultural and political happenings in the world. In further stages of development, we hope to add meaningful dialogue and visual clues to tell a much deeper story than what is explicitly presented.
Reed is projected to be a world full of variety, ranging from cold fjords of the northern regions to dry, endless deserts of the south. Each region will conceivably be designed to possesses a noticeably unique culture, evident in the buildings, the people, the roads and many other visual clues. As the player travels between different regions, countries and even cities, we plan to have them experience new geographical and urban features that will constantly remind them what kind of world they are in, keeping the player fully immersed in the game. Details down to the building material of structures and fabric of clothing will be obvious visual clues as to where the player is currently in the world. We hope to have the visuals not only bring life to the setting, but to also tell a part of the story that may not necessarily be spoken.
